Crispy Sweet Potato Fries
Hot, crispy, sweet, and healthy. What's not to like? Don't feel guilty about eating these delicious treats. Filled with fiber, low in fat, and packed with nutrients--these are a perfect addition to any meal.
These fries are a perfect finger food that will please the kids, while keeping your hips slim. Feel free to experiment with different sauces and dips to accompany these sweet potato fries.
Sweet Potato Fries
-Yields 4 servings
Ingredients
- 2 sweet potatoes (washed and peeled) (500g)
- 1/4-1/2 cup cornstarch
- 2 egg whites
- 1/4-1/2 tsp salt
- 1/2 tsp dried basil (or fresh basil)
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp onion powder
- 1 Tbls water or oil
Directions
- Preheat oven to 400F.
- Cut the peeled sweet potatoes into fry forms. Combine the spices, cornstarch, and salt together. Whisk together the egg whites and oil or water together.
- Line a pan with parchment paper and spray the sheet with oil spray. Roll the fries in the cornstarch mixture, then the egg whites, and place the fries on the parchment paper.
- Bake the fries for 15 min on one side, then flip the fries and bake for 10 more min on the other side. Allow the fries to cool before serving.
